We Said Yes (Unanimously), and They Said YES !

On Sunday, April 23, following two services at which the Reverends
Glenn and Miriam Leupold brought the Gospel to life, the
congregation of First Presbyterian Church voted unanimously to accept
our Pastor Nominating Committee's delightful recommendation.

Pleased and pensive would describe our co-pastors elect, and the
congregation too! |
 |
Come August, we will have two co-pastors!
Glenn and Miriam Leupold currently serve as Associate Pastors at
Dayton, Ohio's Westminster
Presbyterian Church (a 1200 member urban church).
They are currently seeking lodgings for themselves, two daughters
(Margaret and Elizabeth) and seven pets.
Yes, seven pets. |
|
Miriam grew up in Virginia, graduated from the College of
William and Mary with a BA in Anthropology, followed by a Master of
Divinity degree from Princeton, and most recently - a Doctorate of
Ministry (in Christian Spirituality) from Columbia Theological
Seminary, Decatur, Georgia.

Presbytery's Paul Randall provided invaluable support to the Pastor
Nominating Committee . |

Daughters Elizabeth and Margaret appear to be following in Miriam's footsteps. |
|

Yes, they met at Princeton, and the rest is history. Or will be.
After graduation from Princeton, Glenn and Miriam lived for a year in
Edinburgh, Scotland (John Knox's hometown). |
Glenn, an Ohio native, moved to Minnesota at the age of 5 (to
oversee his parents' spiritual development), then received his BA in
English and Religious Studies from the University of Minnesota,
followed by a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton.
 |
|
Prior to their assigment in Dayton, they were associate pastors in
Jamestown, NY (Lucille Ball's hometown). Soon Albany will be their
spiritual home.
Serving in Dayton as Associate Pastor for Mission, Glenn led
mission trips to New Mexico, Tornoto and West Virginia, and launched School
Church Partners, a collaborative network of 50 schools and
churches in Dayton, Ohio - making a difference in their public schools. |
Rev. Dr. Joseph Shook proudly announces the unanimous results of the
congregational ballot. His leadership made it all possible.

It was "standing room only" on Saturday night, as a rapt
audience enjoyed Glenn and Miriam's exposés of each other. |
Miriam, serving as Dayton's Associate Pastor for Membership,
focused on evangelism, fellowship and discipleship. She initiated a
scriptural study group, led a labytrinth ministry team, and launched
a program of small groups for spiritual growth and fellowship.
|
In May, Miriam will complete her Doctor of Ministry degree
from Columbia Theological Seminary (Decatur, Georgia).
They and their two gracious and charming daughters are avid bikers,
hikers and birders. Should we tell them where we've stashed our bald eagles? |
