PRIDE PARADE - 2006
Our good neighbors were kind enough to schedule this annual event for
noon, ensuring the congregation's undivided attention for Dr. Shook's
sermon (plus two new members and a baptism). Once again, First Pres
had a float designed by the usual suspects, our More Light Presbyterians.
|
This year's theme: Pride in the Family Tree. Look carefully.
Each riotous leaf was handcrafted to include a photo of someone who
cares about all of God's Children.
We should really add your picture next year. |

Despite high winds, our float survived the gala processional down
State Street. Sorry you can't hear the music. It was a great day to
test your new digital camera. All the colors of the rainbow were in attendance. |

 |
Proudly, our welcoming rainbow banners commanded the area over
Washington Park - scene of a joyous, ebullient gathering.
Just as Washington Park welcomes ALL neighbors to this annual one-day
event, First Pres is there the other 364 days per year (365 in leap years).

|
Members of First Pres staffed an information table, explaining just
what More Light Presbyterians are all about. It has nothing to
do with the beverages clutched by Charlie and Patty! |

Some assembly required. Each tree (designed by the Prime Mover), was
then decorated by our own movers and shakers with explosive colors
that matched the spirit of the day.
You should have seen Charlie Kite assembling our float on windy
Willett Street. Was he patient, or was he stubborn? God knows! |
